with the Trojan horse entering the gates of Troy the subject of the “R” and perhaps some sort of alchemy underway in “V”

which a handwritten note on reverse describes as  depicting (I think it reads) "Bear Mountain and Pond" (there's a bridge mentioned too

with a second drawing on reverse of what looks to be a tank

There is wear to this box consistent with its age

This is a Grulich nativity figure not too far a cry from German Erzgebirge carvings, but their own thing, created in what is now called Krliky in the Czech Republic, at the foot of the Eagle Mountains in Northern Bohemia.
